Oshkosh, Wis. – March 28, 2006 – Fox Valley Plastic Surgery has completed its 201st breast procedure with silicone gel implants.
Fox Valley Plastic Surgery has been using silicone gel implants through its affiliation with the implant manufacturer, Mentor, since 1998. Each patient with these implants as agreed to be enrolled in Mentor’s Core Gel study and monitored for 5 years.
The silicone gel implant has been the subject of testing and controversy since the FDA imposed a moratorium on the product in 1992, making it no longer available for the general public.
Fourteen years later, the FDA could end the moratorium because of successful research, product development and clinical trials.
Dr. Janssen of Fox Valley Plastic Surgery advocates silicone gel implant use. He is one of only several dozen surgeons in the nation selected by Mentor to participate in the study. Surgical expertise and a commitment to careful patient follow-up are the criteria used to select the surgeons.
Dr. Janssen feels the silicone gel implants provide profound benefits to his patients. He states, “These implants are safe, comfortable and feel more natural. My patients with silicone implants notice the difference when hugging others and sleeping on their stomachs.”
