Breast Reduction in Wisconsin
Women with overly large breasts bear two kinds of pain: physical and emotional. The physical discomfort is real and it includes neck pain, back pain and shoulder pain, deep grooves and chafing from bra straps, even skin rashes and infections. Many women say the emotional pain is even worse, describing the embarrassment of being the object of stares and gossip.
If oversized breasts are a problem for you, chances are you've suffered both kinds of pain. You may have tried chiropractors for your aches and industrial-strength bras of all kinds for support, but you've still had to restrict your physical activities to avoid further discomfort. You may have mastered where to shop for clothes that disguise your figure, but you've still had to restrict your social activities to mask your self-consciousness.

Breast Reduction Defined
Breast reduction is known to physicians as reduction mammaplasty. In most cases, Dr. Janssen or Dr. Doubek will make an incision around your areolas (the dark skin surrounding your nipples) down to the crease of your breast and out toward your sides. They'll then remove breast tissue, fat and skin, reposition your nipples, and bring the remaining skin down and together with sutures. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes a few hours depending on how much tissue is removed.
Because insurance companies recognize the pain women suffer with overly large breasts, and because physical problems are almost inevitable without correction, breast reduction is typically covered by medical insurance in Wisconsin. Please check with your primary physician if you are considering the procedure.
Breast Reduction at Fox Valley Plastic Surgery in Wisconsin
Dr. Janssen and Dr. Doubek understand the challenges you face and they look forward to planning the surgery that will improve your life. Breast reduction surgery must be unique to each individual, and the surgeons are experienced in tailoring the procedure to meet specific needs.
In most cases, nipples can remain attached to nerves and blood supply, retaining all or part of their normal sensation. If your breasts are extremely large, however, your nipples may actually need to be removed and placed in a different position. Scars are inevitable with this procedure as with any surgery, but in some cases scars can be minimized or nearly hidden. You'll have ample time to discuss these and all other aspects of surgery during your consultation.
