Procedures Depicted: Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
This patient had gastric bypass surgery, and maintained her 80 pound weight loss for two years. The massive weight loss left her with abdominal skin laxity and droopy breasts. Her BMI and medical history put her in a higher risk for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolus, which eliminated her as a candidate for a formal abdominoplasty. Her abdomen had excess skin, but there was no significant muscle laxity. This made her a candidate for an extended moderate abdominoplasty, which involved no muscle tightening. 4354 grams of abdominal was excised, and liposuction was performed on the front and sides. Two revisions were performed after the first surgery, which removed an additional 134 grams of skin and 600 mL of fat.
